I'm fortunate enough to have an active and friendly guild, plus a gf who is fairly new to the game who needs a lot of help, and is fun to play with. Add to that the fact that I have 1 character of each profession, that I would like to play through the entire game in NM, and I've got LOTS to do still. And I play very casually. About 5~10 hours a week max.
Aside from that, my main char still needs to get some HM dungeons done, and lots of VQ in Tyria and Cantha, so trying to get GWAMM will also occupy me.
I still like the game. Simply because there's so much to do in it. And I'm looking forward to the big april update. Even if it might not be what I expected, It'll be nice to have new changes.

I grew bored when they started making 99% of the items in the game too easy to aquire. Made gold too easy to aquire and generally made farming boring instead of fun and profitable. I remember when a +30hp insert was worth a pretty plat (30k) and a perfect firey dragon sword 100k+e. 20/20 was worth a bunch as well I sold my first for 80k when GW was fresh and new. Got 100k for 10 amber chunks. Oh the days of wealth and glory. 80k or more for a +50hp rune of Vigor. Now, all that is gone and GW is some kind of socialist group of people/players. People thinking everyone should be the same and have everything everyone else has got and easily. Posh what a stupid world to play in.

If you dont think skill is relevent in pvp, then your missing the picture. There is a lot more skill in this game and tatics than in a FPS.

fps, you point and shoot and maybe throw some nades.

gw, there are like 1000 skills and many builds to choose from that are good. The true tatics come into play when you do gvg with a solid group of people. before shooting down pvp in this game you should at least give it a solid try.

Yet only less than 1/4th of them is viable. Did you ever play an FPS?

I still play FPS's. I just believe there is more tactics and skill needed for pvp in GW than in FPS's. FPS's still require a fair amount of skill but from my observation and playing each game i believe that GW has more skill/tactics. For instance i am trying to say the spread between non-skillful people in each game is much larger in gw than in a fps imo.

It's sooo completely different when done with other players... if only there was a centralized LFG solution, any reasonable way to find other players wanting to do the same part it would be awesome.
I honestly feel that the biggest thing truly putting a stake in cooperative play was likely how separated the game became over time (and was a bit at the start).

At the beginning, being new wasn't just the only factor in encouraging people to play together. The fact that the game wasn't separated by 3.5 continents full of outposts is probably the biggest factor.

What should've been done at the start in GW's developmental process had to have been a much more global party search system, something you can use while outside of an outpost, something that stays if you zone out of an area, something that does X and Y and Z.

I hated it when Urgoz and then DoA became real - I really hated those very first tries where noone even knows what the spawns are, what skills are needed and so on, and you get to sit like 4-5 (EVEN 7 WHOLE HOURS :X - longest foundry run everrrrr) hours just to get to the end and get some crappy stuff . Yeah, yeah I know what you guys gonna say, we obviously were a shitty group or w/e - there wasnt much information about those areas at the very start of them. Shouting on vent for the "Rapetrain" was quite funny tho :').

If you've been in any of those areas for like 4+ hours session you should know what I mean :x.I tend to enjoy gw in shorter bursts . Ever since those runs I just play mostly alone for some 30 mins to an hour, some lame missions or a bit of mindless farming, or maybe some low-level pvp.

All these posts about FPS'es are getting me worked up to install ut2004 tho ;x. I should resist

Sorry, just my opinion, aiming a crosshair at a specific place is more skill based than pressing keys 1-8 imho

I'd argue that at the height of this game, there was much more team skill involved then CS or just about any other FPS. Individual skill may be a different story however.
